Marketing teams as well as marketing education emphasize optimization of individual variables. Product teams build. Pricing teams model. Channel teams distribute. Communications teams promote. Each function optimizes its “domain”, and no-one owns the integration. I like to see the growth of a company through the lens of the Hero’s Journey.
